Rach Mieu 2 Cable-Stayed Bridge Project
The Rach Mieu 2 Bridge and Approach Road Project, connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces, has a total length of approximately 17.6 km, including nearly 2 km for the main bridge. The bridge is designed with four lanes for motor vehicles, a design speed of 80 km/h, and two mixed-traffic lanes. The project has a total investment of over VND 6.8 trillion funded by the state budget and commenced construction in March 2022.
The main bridge structure is a two-plane cable-stayed bridge with a prestressed reinforced concrete girder system and a main span arrangement of 120 m + 270 m + 120 m. Under Contract Package XL02, Vinh Hung was selected as the contractor responsible for supplying and installing the stay-cable system, comprising 471.8 tonnes of stay cables, for Towers P19 and P20.
Towers P19 and P20 are designed in an H-shape using reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete, supported by bored pile foundations. Each tower is founded on 24 piles with a diameter of 2 m and a length of 80 m. The stay-cable system consists of 112 cables arranged in two cable planes and utilizes Parallel Strand System (PSS) cables, with each cable comprising between 31 and 55 strands.
