Dong Nai Major Bridge (Ghenh Bridge) Restoration Project

In March 2016, an accident occurred at Ghenh Bridge (Dong Nai Major Bridge) at Km 1,699+860 on the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh City railway line when barge NB-8437 collided with Span No. 2 of Bay 5.

The collision severely deformed and warped the bottom chord (the underlying load-bearing structure of the bridge deck), gusset plates, and sheared high-strength bolts and anchor bolts. It displaced the girder system (stringers, cross girders, wind bracings) and bearings by approximately 25 mm, and misaligned the bridge rail track by about 320 mm. This critical incident has completely paralyzed rail transport between Bien Hoa and Song Than stations, as well as inland waterway traffic on the Dong Nai River.

The Prime Minister approved a proposal from the Ministry of Transport and Vietnam Railways Corporation to allocate VND 298.5 billion from the 2016 central budget contingency fund for the restoration of Ghenh Bridge. Vinh Hung served as the supplier of bridge bearings for the project.
