The SCRP is part of the North – South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project, a flagship railway development with a total investment of USD 6.4 billion, scheduled for completion by 2028. Spanning approximately 55 km with 18 stations – including both elevated and at-grade stations – the project aims to serve hundreds of thousands of passengers daily. Once operational, this railway line will slash travel time from Manila to Calamba from 2.5 hours to around 1 hour, significantly boosting urban transport capacity.

The project is financed by a USD 4.3 billion loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), with co-financing from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the procurement of rolling stock and railway systems. By 2040, the railway is projected to serve over 600,000 passengers daily while reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 284,000 tons per year, becoming a backbone public transit system characterized by speed, safety, and environmental friendliness.

In this project, Hyundai Engineering – a leading construction conglomerate from South Korea – serves as the main general contractor. Vinh Hung is the supplier of seismic restrainers for Contract Packages 04, 05, and 06.

Winning the contract and successfully supplying products for a large-scale railway project like the SCRP not only confirms Vinh Hung’s reputation in the international market but also demonstrates the competitiveness and strong growth of Vietnam’s transport mechanical industry, fully meeting the stringent technical requirements and quality standards of major global infrastructure projects.
