TO START 35 BIG TRAFFIC PROJECTS IN 2014
In 2014, the transport sector will start 35 projects and complete 58 major projects. Particularly, projects to upgrade and expand National Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh Road through the Central Highlands region will strive to be completed by 2016.

In 2013, the Ministry of Transport started 78 and completed 46 works and projects; in which, key projects have been started such as projects to upgrade and expand National Highway 1, Ho Chi Minh road section through the Central Highlands region, Da Nang-Quang Ngai expressway, Lach Huyen port, Vam Cong bridge, Cao Lanh bridge...
Regarding the situation of traffic infrastructure in 2013, the whole industry has upgraded, renovated and built more than 800 km of National Highway, nearly 4,000m of road bridges and more than 1,000m of railway bridges; erected 20,000 m2 of taxiways, upgraded and renovated 122,000 m2 of taxiways, airplane parking lots...
Implementing the Year of Discipline, Quality and Progress of Traffic Works, the Ministry of Transport assessed that the progress and quality management of the works had had positive changes. Currently, there is almost no longer slow progress of works. Many projects and works have been completed ahead of schedule with high quality, promoted efficiency when put into use, and contributed to reducing accidents and traffic jams...
Along with construction investment, the Ministry of Transport also focused on maintenance work, since the Road Maintenance Fund which came into operation in 2013 has gradually eliminated black spots, positions which might cause traffic insecurity; reviewed and repaired damage to the road surface at the intersections between the railway and the National Highway.
In order to carry out the planned tasks next year, the Ministry of Transport will strive to start 35 works and complete 58 major projects while effectively using investment capital from the State budget, ODA capital, concessional commercial loans and mobilization from external sources to invest in the construction of transport infrastructure.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport will focus on directing investors to accelerate construction progress, especially key projects such as projects to upgrade and expand National Highway 1 and Ho Chi Minh Road section through the Central Highlands region, highway projects: Noi Bai-Lao Cai, Hanoi-Hai Phong, Da Nang-Quang Ngai, Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay, Nhat Tan bridge, railway station Passengers T2- Noi Bai Airport…
In addition, important transport infrastructure projects such as: Dau Giay-Phan Thiet highway, Ninh Binh-Bai Vot highway; Long Thanh, Tan Son Nhat, Cam Ranh international airports... will step up investment promotion.
Along with focusing on directing and accelerating the progress of the above key projects, the Ministry of Transport also focuses on quality management through improving the responsibility and capacity of project participants, strengthening inspection, resolutely handling violations at the same time, closely coordinating with localities to speed up site clearance, meeting the needs of speeding up construction progress...
