START CONSTRUCTION OF RAIL BRIDGE IN NGHE AN

On the morning of October 1, the Ministry of Transport and the People's Committee of Nghe An province jointly held the groundbreaking ceremony of the overpass at the intersection between the North-South railway (Km314+713) and National Highway 1A (Km456+629) project in Nghi Lien commune, Vinh city.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Dinh Tho - Deputy Minister of Transport; Mr. Dinh Trinh Hai - Vice Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly; Mr. Nguyen Huu Quang - Standing member, Finance and Budget Committee of the National Assembly. Overpass project at the intersection between the North - South railway (Km314+713) and National Highway 1A (Km456+629) in Vinh city is a sub-project under the project of restoring order to road and railway traffic safety corridors, invested by State capital with a total investment of more than VND 373.2 billion. The project implementation period is 12 months.

The project has a total length of 1.1 km extending from Km456+000 to Km457+100 on the route of National Highway 1A. The bridge is designed permanently with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete, with a plain grade III road design; design speed of 60 km/h; the bridge's cross-sectional width is 20.5 m, including four lanes for motor vehicles and two lanes for rudimentary vehicles.

This is a project to reduce traffic congestion and accidents at the intersection of North-South railway and National Highway 1A, improve train safety on the railway, and contribute to completing the National Highway 1A expansion project.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho asked the investor - Traffic Safety Project Management Board to closely coordinate with local authorities to do well in site clearance; direct the construction, consulting units to urgently arrange human resources, gather construction equipment and machinery to ensure the committed schedule, and closely manage and supervise the quality of the project to soon put the project into effective operation.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee said that the intersection between road and railway in Nghi Lien commune, Vinh city is a very complicated point with frequent traffic jams. Building an overpass at the intersection between the North-South railway here is the desire of the local government and people. The project coming into operation will make an important contribution to reducing traffic congestion and accidents, improving transport capacity and promoting local socio-economic development.
