INVEST MORE THAN 14,000 BILLION VIETNAM DONG TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT FOR METRO LINE 1
Hitachi will supply 17 trains with 3 cars (total 51 cars), signaling systems, telecommunication systems, power supply systems, platform shutter systems, automated fare collection, and utility depot. The contractor is also obliged to survey design, manufacturing, construction, materials and equipment purchasing, testing, and run dry for the whole project.
The total contract amount is approximately 55.198 billion Japanese Yen equivalent to 14,269 trillion Vietnam dong. After completion, the contractor will respond to machinery maintenance within 5 years after starting operation. The length of metro line 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien section) is 19.7km (including elevated and underground). The full line includes 14 stations, which 3 undergrounds and 11 elevated stations. The total announced investment of the project is 47,000 billion. The contractor is carrying out construction package No.2 with a length of 17.1km ( overhead along the Ha Noi highway). Metro line 1 is expected to complete in 2017 and officially operate in 2018.
