Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway was started in October 2009 with a total investment of nearly 21,000 billion VND in the form of BOT. After opening the entire 55km route, this expressway will have 4 lanes for 2-way traffic and 2 safety lanes on both sides of the road, with a design speed of 120 km/h.

Phase 2 of the project starting from Long Thanh town (intersection on national highway 51) to Dau Giay (national highway 1) with a length of more than 31 km passing through Long Thanh, Cam My and Thong Nhat districts of Dong Nai province will be open to traffic on February 8. At that time, the road from Ho Chi Minh City to Dau Giay T-junction (National Highway 1 and the direction to Lien Khuong) will only be 50 km with a time of 60 minutes instead of 70 km and taking up to 3 hours due to frequent congestion on National Highway 1.

According to the investor (Vietnam Expressway Corporation - VEC), this is the most modern expressway in Vietnam today with highlights such as: the whole route has 3 intersections with different levels to ensure the principle of anti-intersection. The standards for vertical slope, vertical curve and horizontal curve are all at the maximum level specified for the expressway.

Along the route, there are corrugated iron and fences separating residential areas, farms, and agricultural production areas. The overpasses that cross the expressway are all designed with high fences. 100% of the road surface area is carpeted with asphalt concrete to create roughness, ensuring increased wheel adhesion, especially when it rains.

Besides, although running through most of the area is forest, agricultural land, and less populated area, the expressway still ensures traffic and production of people on both sides with the construction of many tunnels for vehicles to circulate below. More than 30 km of the highway is about to be put into use, the investor also built two large stops on both sides of the road with services such as refueling, eating, resting for people and vehicles passing by.

The route is also invested with a high-speed automatic vehicle weighing system, ensuring control of overloaded vehicles even when the vehicle is in circulation without stopping. In addition, the lntelligent Transport System - ITS package is being deployed to provide a full camera system to ensure image monitoring on the entire route, control the number of vehicles at each location on the route and apply non-stop toll collection, saving time for traffic vehicles. This package is expected to be completed by the end of 2015. In the photo: Dau Giay modern 8-lane toll station is located at the beginning of the expressway towards Ho Chi Minh City.
