Vinh Hung wins bidding awards to supply restrainers for South Commuter Railway project, the Philippines

Vinh Hung JSC has surpassed many major competitors in the international market to become the supplier of restrainers for the South Commuter Railway Project (SCRP)

The South Commuter Railway Project (SCRP) is a part of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) project, a key transport infrastructure project of the Philippines.

SCRP has a total length of 55 km, including the construction of 18 stations, both elevated and at-grade stations, designed to serve hundreds of thousands of passengers daily. This project is expected to remarkably reduce travel time from Manila to Calamba from 2.5 hours to only about 1 hour.

This project is financed with a $4.3 billion loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and co-financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for the procurement of rolling stock and railway systems. The total cost of the project is estimated at approximately $6.4 billion and is expected to be completed in 2028.

By 2040, this railway line is projected to serve more than 600,000 passengers per day and become the most widely used, fastest, and safest means of public transport, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 284,000 tons per year.

In this project, Hyundai Engineering - a leading construction group from South Korea, plays the role of main contractor.
