Hanoi’s elevated ring road No.2 opened to traffic – nearly 18.000m2 noise barriers completely installed

The construction of elevated Ring Road No.2 from Nga Tu So to Nga Tu Vong started in April 2018 and cost VND9.4 trillion (US$404.5 million).
As one of the key traffic works of Hanoi, Hanoi City’s Ring Road No.2 contributes to reducing traffic jams and giving a facelift to the capital city. Due to the daily heavy load of traffic, preventing the effect of noise from transportations to nearby residence is one of the problems that need to be resolved.
More than 18,000sqm noise barriers were installed to reduce noise pollution caused by vehicles and ensure the quality of life for nearby residences along 2 sides of the route.

Besides reducing the effect of noise to nearby areas, noise barriers are able to minimize the noise affecting surrounding area and ensure a fine landscape. The noise barriers are windproof and aid to driver’s concentration which could increase safety for people and other vehicles.
Noise barriers is a popular solution installed in expressway, urban routes, viaducts in different countries in the world years ago. The installation of noise barriers is a common trend all over the world, and it has recently been applied on Hanoi’s Elevated Ring Road No. 2 and No.3, Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway, Long - Van Don, Bach Dang Bridge, Vinh Thinh Bridge in Vietnam.
