DISMANTLING THO TUONG BRIDGE, ENSURING THE CONDITIONS FOR RE-USAGE
Tho Tuong bridge is officially dismantled on July 31st,2019 and expectedly finished on October 30th, 2019
Initially, the construction unit will take apart 490 concrete desk slabs from both handrails for pedestrians and rudimentary vehicles, then dismantle the entire bridge frame assembled by steel frame and demolish the concrete surface and bridge girder, piers finally.
Being installed from a railway bridge, dismantling must be implemented manually, faces difficulties and takes a lot of time
Engineer Le Khanh Toan – The Commander in charge of dismantling the work said: the Tho Tuong bridge is utilized from a railway bridge, the structure is mainly installed by iron and steel. So, dismantling must be implemented manually, not by machines. Moreover, most of the old bridge materials are still in good condition which can be re-fabricated new bridges crossing streams and springs. This job must be carefully carried out to ensure the conditions for re-usage.
Concrete desk slabs at both handrails for pedestrians and rudimentary vehicles are removed and gathered to hand over to the Department of Transportation.

Engineer Nguyen Anh Van from PMU of Ha Tinh Transportation Construction Project said, "PMU coordinate to supervise dismantling to ensure working safety as well as the intact structure of bridge. After dismantling, the finished parts will be arranged in orders and gathered to hand over to the Department of Transportation for management.

Previously, on July 29th, PMU, contractor were in coordination with the local authority to carry out dividing traffic flows passing this area that pedestrians and rudimental vehicles were allowed to go towards Thuong market railway bridge, 220m far from Tho Tuong bridge at the downstream side.
Safeguards of full day time are mobilized to ensure traffic safety
The adequate traffic signs are put at the direction to Linh Cam bridge 2, about 5km from the old Tho Tuong bridge from the upstream side for motor vehicles (cars, machinery and motorbikes). At the same time, safeguards of full day time are mobilized from both ends of the bridge to ensure traffic safety and prohibit people and vehicles from crossing the bridge while the work is going on.
