Steel Girders and Steel Box Girders
Steel girders manufactured by Vinh Hung Investment and Production Co., Ltd. (Vinh Hung IP) include products serving viaducts, river-crossing bridges, sea-crossing bridges, railway bridges, etc. The products are manufactured in compliance with the following standards: AASHTO LRFD, TCVN 11823:2017, Eurocode 3 (EN 1993), JRA, AWS D1.1, AWS D1.5, and other.
Product Features
- Steel girders are the primary load-bearing components that support and transfer loads from the bridge deck (traffic loads, wind loads, dead loads of the bridge, etc.) to the bridge piers. Bridge girders are typically fabricated by welding assembled steel plates and are quality-controlled through inspection methods such as MT, RT, and UT. – After fabrication, the girders are usually coated with protective paint systems (such as zinc-rich epoxy coatings in accordance with AASHTO, JRA standards, etc.) to protect them from environmental corrosion.
- Steel bridge girders are commonly used for long-span bridges, river-crossing bridges, sea-crossing bridges, and structures with complex geometries. They help shorten construction and installation time because fabrication can be carried out simultaneously with civil works. In addition, steel girders have lower self-weight than concrete structures, are easier to replace and repair, and can be recycled.
- The girders are available in various cross-sectional forms, including I-sections, box sections, and trapezoidal sections.
- Main girders are typically fabricated from high-strength steel grades such as A572 Gr50, A709 Gr50, SM490YB, Q355, and others.
