NHAT TAN BRIDGE PROJECT: JAPANESE CONTRACTOR NOT CLAIM COMPENSATION
There is never any dispute or compensation
Reporting Minister Dinh La Thang, Mr. Hiroshi Asakami - Project Director of Tokyu Company in Vietnam said that currently on the construction site, the contractor is very active, gathering machinery and equipment to carry out the construction. Tokyu affirmed they would be determined to ensure the completion of Nhat Tan bridge as committed.
Regarding the pressing issue raised in recent days about the compensation of 155 billion VND due to the delay in handing over the site of package Number 3 of the Nhat Tan bridge project, Mr. Hiroshi Asakami affirmed: "Tokyu company has never claimed compensation or contract penalties. The aforementioned costs are costs incurred related to the implementation of the Nhat Tan bridge project. That press reported Tokyu asked for compensation is completely contrary to the contractor's opinion".
Tokyu also asked the Minister of Transport and the Vietnamese authorities to clarify and soon accurately inform the press about this incident. “The misinformation that the Vietnamese press has given recently has affected the reputation, brand name, and long-term efforts of Tokyu contractors in Vietnam and the good relationship between the two countries, especially when this is the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Japan relations," said Mr. Hiroshi Asakami.
Strictly review the false statement
Regarding this issue, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Van - General Director of Project Management Unit 85 said that the contractor has never asked the investor to compensate for the delay in site clearance. During the construction process, the investor has created maximum conditions for the contractor to speed up the construction progress. The expenses incurred are only changes in the scope and the amount of work compared with the original, not compensation.
"Project Management Unit 85 will clarify and seriously review the statement of the wrong nature of the case, which falsified information and affected the Tokyu contractor" - Mr. Van affirmed.
Welcoming the efforts of the Tokyu contractor in constructing and speeding up the work, Minister Dinh La Thang said that Nhat Tan bridge is a national key project and a Vietnam-Japan friendship bridge, therefore, the construction progress, quality, and art must be the top priority. Tokyu in particular and the contractors of the Nhat Tan bridge project in general need to focus more on the project, mobilize more manpower and equipment to shorten the construction time, and soon put the project into operation.
Regarding the site clearance of the project, the Ministry of Transport affirmed that there have not been any documents related to the compensation or contract penalty from the contractors of Nhat Tan bridge. “It is normal for the construction works to generate volume during construction, not only the Nhat Tan bridge. The Ministry of Transport will direct the investor to review and pay the contractors in accordance with the current laws and regulations of Vietnam "- said the Minister.
