VINH HUNG SUPPLIES ELASTOMERIC BEARINGS WITH A LOAD CAPACITY OF 20,000KN FOR MY THUAN 2 BRIDGE
Elastomeric bearing with load capacity of 20,000kN for the project
Vinh Hung supplied bridge bearings for the whole My Thuan 2 bridge project with a total quantity of nearly 1,000pcs which are manufactured by Vinh Hung IP factory. Bridge bearings manufactured by Vinh Hung for the project includes pot bearing and elastomeric bearings, in which elastomeric bearing used for 2 tower pylons of the cable-stayed bridge has load capacity of up to 20,000kn and dimension of 1270x1560x435mm.
These are one of the largest bridge bearings used for cable-stayed bridges in Vietnam. Therefore, the quality control process for products before being installed in construction site requires strict inspection. Many important criteria are tested in National road construction equipment materials laboratory belongs to the Vietnam Automation & Mechatronics Institute under the Ministry of Transportation.
The testing process is applied project's standards and technical instructions, in which, there are some important criteria in the testing process such as vertical load compression test (short-term, long-term), horizontal load test, rotation angle, shear modulus, coefficient of friction.
Breakthroughs in the construction of My Thuan 2 Bridge
My Thuan 2 Bridge has a main span of 650 m long, according to diagram (150+350+150) with two 125.5 m high tower pylons. This is a large, complex cable-stayed bridge project which is completely designed and constructed by Vietnamese contractors.
The bored pile which is used for the project has a diameter of 2.5m and a depth of 115m is the largest used in Vietnam so far. The contractor said that for the first time, the construction of such large bored piles in this project demonstrated the success in the application of new technical in the construction industry.
An unprecedented initiative in the construction of large bored piles (one pile 570 m3 of concrete and a steel cage of more than 100 tons) is to straighten the borehole, stabilize the wall and construct.
My Thuan 2 bridge project started construction in February 2020 with a total length of 6.61 km; connecting Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway and My Thuan - Can Tho expressway. The main bridge is more than 1.9 km long, with 6 lanes and a design speed of 80 km/h.
With a total capital of 5,000 billion VND ($215.5 million), the bridge was built about 300 meters upstream from the existing My Thuan bridge; So far, the progress has reached nearly 60%, exceeding 3.5% of the plan.
