MINISTER OF TRANSPORT INSPECTS TWO IMPORTANT PROJECTS IN THE CAPITAL
Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The inspected the Thang Long bridge repairing project. The project was started on 16th August 2020 and will be completed before 31st December 2020, half a month earlier than expected. According to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam, the repairing solution applied is the application of a lightweight composite steel deck structure solution, with plasma anchor welding technology and UHPC super-functional concrete.
The process of repairing Thang Long bridge surface this time applies the solution of reinforcing, strengthening the steel deck into a lightweight composite deck - the combination between the existing steel deck and UHPC super-functional concrete, with the combination of using a super-thin plastic concrete coating to create roughness and the link between the existing steel plate and the super-functional concrete made of standard 5cm long anchors and reinforced mesh. After finishing pouring super-functional concrete, one layer of polymer concrete will be laid to cover. (In the photo, Minister Nguyen Van The was checking an expansion joint).
The minister inspected the sandblasting shot on the bridge surface
Before asphalting, workers applied a layer of epoxy adhesive.
Workers coated glue on the bridge surface.
After pouring super-functional UHPC concrete, the contractor started to construct the last stages of the repair of the Thang Long bridge surface, which was asphalting polyurethane concrete.
The plastic temperature when being asphalted was constantly checked to ensure it always reached the prescribed temperature.
Every day, the contractor asphalted 336m long with an area of 2,800m2.
Right after having inspected the project of repairing the Thang Long bridge surface, Minister Nguyen Van The continued to inspect the project of repairing and upgrading runways, taxiways of Noi Bai international airport. Cement concrete progress at the 3,000-metre section of the runway and taxiways basically met the completion progress of 31st December 2020. (In the photo, Minister Nguyen Van The was checking the quality of the runway).
With the 3,000m long 1B runway, the representative of Thang Long project management confirmed that the entire part of cement concrete had been completed, and the final works were urgently completed before phase 1 was put into operation, to guarantee for Code C aircraft (aircraft A321, A320) to take off before 31st December 2020. Rubber streak removal vehicles on the most modern runway today, worth more than 25 billion VND, have just been invested by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

After upgrading and renovating runways and taxiways, Noi Bai International Airport will continue to receive Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, or 787-10 aircraft, to meet the operational needs until 2030, capacity of 63 million passengers/year and 2 million tons of goods/year.
