With diverse experience in the construction of water-proofing systems for tunnels, mountain underpass tunnels, metro lines, etc., Vinh Hung was entrusted to be the contractor to implement the construction of water-proofing system for Than Vu Tunnel - a site with complex geological conditions and severely weathered rocks.

"Than Vu Tunnel is considered as one of the most challenging and complicated projects among all the mountain underpass tunnels in the North - South Expressway.

The waterproofing system, installed to prevent the infiltration of groundwater into the tunnel lining structure, ensures the safety of electrical and traffic control equipment and extends the lifespan of the construction."

Tunnel waterproofing system, installed between sprayed concrete and tunnel lining concrete, consists of 2 layers: an outer non-woven geotextile fabric and an inner waterproofing membrane.

In July 2024, Vinh Hung completed the construction of the water-proofing system, covering 2.3 km (65,000 m²) on both left and right branches.

Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen Underpass Tunnel is one of the key parts of Package 9 of the road construction project connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa street, running through the airport area. This construction aims to reduce congestion and traffic conflicts at ​​Tan Son Nhat airport gateway.

This project is managed by Ho Chi Minh City Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Board. Vinh Hung is a special sub-contractor named in the project, responsible for implementing the entire work of tunnel water-proofing construction starting in September 2023.

The work of water-proofing for Tran Quoc Hoan Tunnel is crucial in protecting the construction from groundwater infiltration and enhancing its longevity, appearance, and aesthetics.

With the capabilities and in-depth experience in implementing urban tunnel waterproofing work in Hanoi - Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh city, Vinh Hung has completed the construction on schedule in July 2024. The project was then handed over to the main contractor for further work, including road connections, lighting, railings, and asphalt paving.

Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen Underpass Tunnel is expected to be open to traffic in August 2024.
