TO THE CENTRAL VIETNAM - OCTOBER 2016
(The school still has traces of floodwater flooding the door)
(The members eagerly brought clothes, books, and gifts to the children)
The old school, which was nearly flooded close to the roof, was cleaned up by the soldiers of the IV Army. In the morning sunlight, joy arose in the clear eyes of the children when each of them received a new shirt and new books. In addition, the delegation gifted 10 additional prizes to 10 poor students with good academic achievements and 02 teachers with extremely difficult backgrounds.
(The teachers and students of Huong Thuy Primary School happily received the gifts from the delegation)
Saying goodbye to the students in deep emotions, the delegation divided into two small groups moving around Huong Thuy and Huong Giang. Here, thanks to the wholehearted help of commune officials, we handed over 400 gifts to families who have difficulties and extremely difficult and suffered heavy losses during the flood.
When staying here, the general feeling was that the countryside was very poor but the people were rich with love. We came to give gifts to Mrs. Phan Thi Tan, who was orphaned and disabled from a young age. Her temporary house was also contributed by the neighbors to build. One neighbor enthusiastically came to explain: “Her house is the only one in this neighborhood that is not flooded (because it is up high), but she suffers so much that the whole neighborhood unanimously voted for her to receive this gift ", then she pulled us into her house to offer us oranges and water. We were heartbroken to see that the back of her house also had signs of flooding and all the crops were gone.
There were many small, emotional stories like that in the flooded land, and also the exchange of encouraging eyes, a united waving when volunteer groups from all over the country met here.
The trip came from love and ended with love, and the echo still lingers on.
