Shandong PC cable

Prestressed concrete cable (PC cable) is a high-strength steel product in cableed form, manufactured and tested in accordance with the ASTM A416 / A416M standard. It is utilized to introduce compressive prestress into prestressed concrete structures, thereby enhancing load-bearing capacity, limiting cracking, and extending the service life of the structures. Regarding its configuration, the most common type is the 7-wire cable, consisting of a central core wire wrapped uniformly by six outer steel wires. In terms of mechanical properties, conventional PC cables belong to Grade 270 with a nominal tensile strength of 1,860 MPa. Standard nominal cable diameters include 9.3 mm, 12.7 mm, and 15.2 mm, satisfying a wide range of diverse design and construction requirements. Thanks to its superior advantages in high strength, compact cross-section, and material cost-efficiency, ASTM A416 / A416M PC cable is widely applied in prestressed concrete bridge girders and structures, post-tensioned flat slabs, prestressed spun concrete piles, and numerous other large-scale structures.

Product Features

Prestressed concrete cable is a high-tech engineering steel product with outstanding structural, mechanical, and technological characteristics, satisfying the rigorous requirements of prestressed concrete structures. Regarding its configuration, the product is fabricated as a 7-wire cable, consisting of a straight central core wire uniformly wrapped by six outer wires in a left-hand lay direction, ensuring structural integrity and uniform stress distribution along the length of the cable. In terms of mechanical properties, the PC cable achieves an exceptionally high tensile strength, commonly at Grade 270 (equivalent to 1,860 MPa), which is 4 to 5 times superior to conventional reinforcing steel. Additionally, it features a yield strength at 1% extension of not less than 90% of the nominal tensile strength, and a minimum elongation of 3.5%. The low-relaxation property is a critical advantage of the Low Relaxation type, with a relaxation value not exceeding 2.5% after 1,000 hours of testing under standard conditions, effectively maintaining the prestressing force throughout the structural life cycle. Regarding product specifications, the cable is supplied in standard nominal diameters including 9.3 mm, 12.7 mm, and 15.2 mm. The cables are factory-coiled to ensure convenience and safety during transport and on-site installation. PC cable possesses a coefficient of thermal expansion equivalent to that of concrete, ensuring compatibility under thermal deformation in real operating conditions, while demonstrating excellent fatigue resistance under dynamic and cyclic loading in bridge and transportation structures.
